Business professionals and home PC users are always looking for ways to declutter their workspace. The mini-PC revolution helps out with a line of powerful desktop computers in tiny packages, like the ASUS NUC 15 Pro. Folks who really commit to optimizing their workflow can take the extra step of lifting their mini-PCs off the desk and mounting them to their favorite display. But that move can lead to new problems, like straining to reach the back of the monitor every morning just to switch on your PC. If your mini-PC ends up someplace where it’s a hassle to turn it on, we have the solution. ASUS Power Sync feature lets you activate both your NUC and its monitor with a single button.
And that’s just one way that you might use ASUS Power Sync. Businesses deploy ASUS NUCs in a diverse range of scenarios including digital signage, self-service kiosks, and manufacturing floors. The power button of the NUC — or for that matter, the monitor — might not be easily accessible depending on the implementation. Now, no matter where your NUC ends up, all you need to switch the PC on or off is the power button of your monitor. Power Sync lets you use the button of whatever device is handy, so that one touch controls both. In this guide we’ll explain how ASUS Power Sync can make life easier for all kinds of professionals, and we’ll give you everything you need to activate the feature and make your workspace more efficient right away.
ASUS Power Sync debuts on a broad range of ASUS NUCs
We’ve made ASUS Power Sync available with practically the whole lineup of ASUS NUCs. That’s because ultracompact and highly efficient ASUS NUCs are uniquely equipped to bring the performance and versatility of a PC to places where other machines just won’t fit.
One of the most powerful members of the family is the ASUS NUC 15 Pro, which offers a suite of powerful hardware prepared for the AI-driven future of business. The NUC 15 Pro’s Intel Arc Graphics accelerates AI applications while delivering stunning visuals, and the Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors are guaranteed to boost your performance.
The NUC 15 Pro also comes with the refined aesthetics of a sleek aluminum chassis that has a business-friendly look. The minimalist design of the NUC 15 Pro makes a statement without seeming out of place in any office decor. This combination of power and minimalist design are elevated when you activate ASUS Power Sync. And you can get started right away, since any HDMI-CEC monitor connected to your NUC can take advantage of ASUS Power Sync. Setting everything up takes no more effort than a few clicks of the mouse. No matter what level of business you work in, or even if you’re a home user, we think the results will be more than worth your time.
That’s because ASUS Power Sync makes life easier for everyone. Take small- to medium-sized businessowners working in retail spaces. When you’re ready to head home at the end of a long day, Power Sync lets you switch off your point-of-sale system and the PC running your digital signage, each with the tap of a single button. The value of little touches of convenience like this adds up quickly when you have a lengthy end-of-day checklist.
And ASUS Power Sync helps to streamline your workspace, too. In their quest to declutter their desks, most professionals start by improving their cable management. If you have a multi-monitor setup, you can use a single cable to attach your NUC 15 Pro to a display with a Thunderbolt 4 port. One cord will transmit a video signal while powering the PC. Then you’ll connect the other monitor with an HDMI cable and set up Power Sync. Attach the NUC 15 Pro to the back of either monitor with its included VESA mounting bracket and use a set of wireless peripherals, and you’ll have all the unsightly cords hidden behind the displays. With Power Sync activated, you’ll boot up or shut down the entire setup with a tap of one monitor’s power button.
Power Sync lets the functionality flow both ways. That’s a benefit for folks in education or healthcare settings, where monitors sometimes end up in places like freestanding kiosks or wall-mounted signage that are hard to access. Now both the monitor and its mini-PC can be switched on or off by tapping the power button of whichever is most accessible. This is especially efficient for wall-mounted signs that sometimes have no message to flash, so they can be switched off at the mini-PC controlling them with a quick tap of a fingertip.
How to activate ASUS Power Sync
To get Power Sync up and running, all it takes is a few changes to the settings in your monitor and NUC. Start by making sure your displays are connected with HDMI cables (1.2 or higher). Then activate your monitor’s on-screen display menu and navigate to the System Setup. In select ASUS monitors, you’ll see a setting called ASUS Power Sync. In other monitors, you’re looking for the HDMI CEC function. (It’s worth noting that not all monitors have this feature, though it’s quite common with televisions.)
Over on the NUC, launch the MyASUS app. In the menu at the left of the screen, you’ll find the button for MyASUS devices. Click it, then make sure you’re in the “Display” tab. The dropdown menu just beneath the word “Display” should include your monitor, listed by its model name. Click on that monitor to access its settings, and look for the setting named “Power Sync Control.” Just make sure that item and its sub-items are toggled to “on.” When the buttons are colored blue, the feature is active.
To fully optimize your Power Sync setup on any Windows system, we recommend one more step. Head to your Control Panel and select “Power Options.” At the top left of the window, click on “Choose what the power buttons do.” Select “Shut down” for the power button setting, and your monitor’s power button will synchronize with your ASUS computer.
Now you have the peace of mind that your NUC’s power management is fully optimized, plus the convenience of one-touch control over your computer and monitors. It’s important to note that the monitor will only shut down when the NUC is turned off. The monitor will not automatically shut off when the NUC simply goes into Sleep Mode.
