Available for pre-order now: the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 custom gaming keyboard is loaded with luxuries

When we put our design teams and engineers to work on the ROG Edition 20 lineup, we knew that we were giving them a tall order. The PCs, components, peripherals, and other tech that made up the series needed to not only honor ROG’s 20-year legacy of hardware innovation, but also move the series forward into a new era of gaming dominance. Without playing favorites with the results, we can’t resist the temptation to put a spotlight on the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 gaming keyboard.

This custom gaming keyboard is a statement piece in every sense of the word. It delivers captivating visual depth with a striking gold-on-black colorway, translucent keycap materials, and a detachable ROG nameplate plated in 24K gold. We won’t blame you if you put this luxurious deck in a display case, but it’s no mere collectible. Featuring our latest innovations in typing feel, connectivity, and acoustics, the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 is ready for action in any digital battlefield.

The ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 will be available soon. To secure one of these limited-edition keyboards today, you can pre-order one over at Best Buy, Newegg, or the ASUS Shop. Let’s take a closer look at what this custom gaming keyboard has to offer.

Premium materials and premium wireless performance alike

Wireless signals don’t take kindly to being trapped in metal cages, a reality that has long limited the materials that keyboard manufacturers can use while designing wireless keyboards.

Unwilling to let our 20th anniversary keyboard languish in a plastic shell, we designed the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 keyboard with a premium aluminum-alloy chassis that still allows for exceptional wireless performance. You’ll have your pick between three connection modes — Bluetooth, 2.4GHz RF mode, wired USB Type-C — and you can top off the battery without changing modes. The included ROG Polling Rate Booster gives you access to an 8000Hz polling rate in either 2.4GHz wireless or wired modes. If you need to get the booster just a bit closer to the keyboard for stable wireless performance, you’ll find a dongle extender cable in the box.

The USB receiver for this custom gaming keyboard

Here’s a nice perk for laptop users, or perhaps desktop users with a tendency to fill up all of their available USB ports. The included ROG Omni Receiver allows you to connect multiple compatibility devices through a single receiver. So if you pair this keyboard with the equally extravagant ROG Harpe II Extreme gaming mouse, you’ll only need one receiver to connect them both.

Battery life is excellent in either wireless mode. You can get up to 92 hours of gaming with OLED display and per-key RGB lighting blazing. If you’re willing to forego the lightshow (not easy choice, we admit) you can get 1600+ hours of battery life in the 2.4GHz RF mode.

Incredible aesthetics worthy of an anniversary

You’ll find a consistent color colorway across the entire ROG Edition 20 collection, whether you’re looking at our powerful new PC components or the comfy ROG Destrier Edition 20 gaming chair. Using classic ROG Black as a foundation and translucent, gold, and red accents playing a supporting role, ROG Edition 20 offers a standout aesthetic while paying tribute to the designs that brought us to today.

The keycaps of the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 display these hues to perfection. High-transparency PC material paired with a PC housing delivers vibrant RGB lighting. By default, the lights default to a uniform Radiant Gold glow, but you’ll of course have full command of the lightshow through ASUS Aura Sync. The all-important central keycaps have black tops that let you easily find the keys you need, but the keycaps for buttons around the edge lean into transparency to create a mesmerizing multidimensional style.

A 1.47-inch touchscreen adds even more visual luster. Featuring a full-color OLED panel, this touchscreen dazzles with preset or custom animations. Switching display content is easier than ever thanks to touchscreen controls. Tapping and swiping provides access to various functions: swipe left and right to toggle between animations, date and time, laptop battery percentage, and hardware monitoring information. Swipe up and down for different options within each setting group. Along the side of the display, a column of icons keeps you informed about keyboard statuses including connection mode, caps lock, PC/Mac mode, and battery level. You can toggle these statuses on and off by double tapping the touchscreen.

Further control is provided by the three-way control knob with a side button. Tap the side button to rotate between various functions including volume adjustment, RGB lighting brightness, OLED brightness, and RGB lighting effect.

The detachable nameplate on the bottom of the keyboard

One last touch of luxury, though “touch” might be an understatement. On the bottom of the keyboard, you’ll find a 24K gold-plated commemorative nameplate. It serves as the cover for the storage compartment where you’ll find the USB receiver and the switch for the adjustable gasket mount, but this nameplate primarily exists as a force multiplier for this keyboard’s style.

Built from top to bottom for premium typing

A keyboard’s switches tend to get the most attention when it comes to how a keyboard feels, but every piece of a keyboard’s build contributes to the overall typing feel, including the case. While plastic cases give a louder, deeper sound thanks to echo inside the case, aluminum alloy gives the keys a more solid-feeling stroke with a lower volume.

The inside of the case matters a whole lot, too. For the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20, we chose carbon fiber for its metal-like rigidity with a crisp typing feel and vibration absorption. Also in play are multiple layers of dampening, which prevent switch sounds from echoing inside the case. All of these layers add up to a supremely unique typing experience that other mechanical keyboards just can’t match.

Thanks to the adjustable gasket mount, you have more control over the typing feel. A quick-flip paddle switch lets you bounce between two modes. In hard typing mode, the keystroke feel is firm, providing a quick rebound that’s ideal for gaming. On the other hand, Soft mode offers a flexible keypress for comfort during extended typing sessions.

The magnetic detachable feet

To give you the perfect typing angle, the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 gives you a selection of feet that raise the back end of the keyboard to different heights. For convenience, these feet attach magnetically.

The silicone wrist rest and aluminum-alloy base

The extended silicone wrist rest takes on the all-important job of keeping your hands and wrists comfortable while you game, but this component isn’t all business. Made of soft silicone, it’s ultra-comfy under your hands, and it’s styled to match the keyboard with a black foundation and gold ROG Fearless Eye logo. Underneath, the aluminum-alloy base keeps the rest firmly in place while making an eye-catching statement.

The switches themselves deserve some attention. We’ve included ROG NX Edition 20 Mechanical Switches with this keyboard. While they’re similar in feel and performance to the current-gen ROG NX switches, they feature a refreshed transparent design to align with the included keycaps. The walled stem design enhances stability and prevents dust intrusion. Special tuning and factory pre-lubing gives the ROG NX Snow Edition keystroke a solid, clean sound with “thocky” acoustics, while the ROG NX Storm Edition 20 switches give every keystroke a crisp and clicky sound.

Rich opportunities to customize your experience

Customization is the name of the game for ROG keyboards. If and when you choose to tweak the keycaps and switches of the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20, you’ll have plenty of options. Thanks to standard cross-shaped stems, this deck is compatible with a huge range of after-market caps. Want to switch up the typing feel? The hot-swappable switch design makes it easy to put in a new set.

The keyboard’s physical controls give you plenty of tools for customizing the experience, but you’ll get even more options through Gear Link. Through this web-based tool, you can tweak key functions, lighting effects, and much more, all without the need to download. If you’d prefer something that runs on your local PC without needing an internet connection, grab Armoury Crate.
