First, it’s an entirely modern powerhouse of a motherboard that’s primed and ready to use a cutting-edge AMD Ryzen CPU and a PCIe 5.0 graphics card to take your gaming experiences to new heights. But it’s also retro-styled board that takes its inspiration from the very first ROG motherboard, the original ROG Crosshair that debuted in 2006.
Part of the fun of building a PC with this motherboard is looking for opportunities to allow classic style to stand loud and proud next to modern hardware. This elaborate case mod does just that. Featuring two split wings with complementary styles that break the boundaries, it offers an unforgettable presentation. We love the integrated display on the left that pays homage to classic monitors and beige cases.
The copper-colored elements on the motherboard deserve some time in the sun, and they get that with this build. It puts the motherboard in an open-air style design that allows the lights to shine bright on the heatsinks.
Even the Republic of Gamers logos visible on this build meld the past and the future. On the motherboard, you can spot the classic “Project G” logo of the original. It’s kept in view thanks to clever use of a PCIe riser cable that connects the graphics card. But off to the side, you’ll find the modern and iconic ROG Fearless Eye.
This isn’t what cable management usually looks like, but there’s nothing usual about this build. Love the vibe created by the separate wings of the case connected by bundles of cables.
