Since PPD accounts for viewing distance, you can use this measurement to compare the relative sharpness of two displays, even if one is a smartphone display that you hold right up in front of your face and the other is a television that you view from across your living room.

Putting this all together: taking into account the ROG XREAL R1’s 57° field of view, it offers a PPD of 40. That’s significantly higher than the PPD of many competing VR headsets, even ones with a higher resolution, because those headsets aim for a much higher field of view.
