Convertible laptops are often versatile in name only. They have neat and flexible form factors, but they lack the power to take on varied workloads. The new ZenBook Flip is built from the inside out to help you tackle all of your work on one adaptable device.
Available in two sizes, the ZenBook Flip 13 UX362 and ZenBook Flip 15 UX562 offer gorgeous displays with narrow bezels, a 360° ErgoLift hinge, and powerful internals including the latest Intel 8th Generation Core processors and optional NVIDIA GeForce discrete graphics.
A display of elegance
Thin bezels are important on any laptop, but that’s especially true on a 2-in-1 that does double duty as a tablet. Narrow bezels minimize distractions, reduce the overall footprint of the device, and offer a more expansive canvas for tablet mode. The UX362 and UX562 boast NanoEdge displays with skinny bezels on all four sides for near edge-to-edge visuals that look stunning in both laptop and tablet mode.
The more compact UX362 fits a 13.3” screen into a chassis that is just 12” across thanks to 5-mm bezels on either side of the display. The bigger UX562 features 6.8-mm bezels and a 15.6” panel inside a 14” chassis. Both have slightly thicker top and bottom bezels, which gives you something to hold onto in tablet mode and leaves enough space along the top bezel to add an IR webcam with support for Windows Hello. An optional world-facing camera on the back of the UX362 adds support for interacting with virtual objects in mixed reality applications.
The ZenBook’s screen is anchored to the keyboard by a 360° ErgoLift hinge that enables you to work in different modes depending on what you’re doing. Its best trick is tablet mode, which is awesome for note-taking or sketching with a stylus, but there’s also tent mode and stand mode, which make watching a movie on the plane or presenting slides to a group a lot easier. You can use the Harmon Kardon-certified speakers for sound, or plug your headphones into the audio combo jack and watch without disturbing others.
The Full HD screen on the UX362 offers 165 pixels per inch for a crisp, clear image, and covers 100% of the sRGB color space. If you’re a photographer looking for a pro-level screen, an Ultra HD panel is optional on the UX562. Gloriously detailed and great for editing high-resolution images and viewing 4K video, it also covers 100% of the sRGB color space and is PANTONE-validated for color accuracy to Delta E < 3, so you’ll see every shade accurately represented on screen while you work. Both panels feature wide 178° viewing angles that look great even if you’re sharing the screen and sitting off to one side.
Lean, mean, convertible machine
The ZenBook Flip may be light and flexible, but it packs a punch for all genres of productivity. Both models boast enough power to plow through heavy workloads thanks to Intel’s 8th Gen Core i5 and i7 processors and up to 16GB of RAM. The 13” Flip uses Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics, while the 15.6” model pushes the limits with the option of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q GPU that’s ideal for speeding up complex creative projects with loads of layers and effects. Both offer up to 512GB of PCIe storage to ensure you’re not held back by slow load times. The UX562 can also be configured with an additional 2TB SATA HDD for the best of both worlds when it comes to storage speed and capacity.
Convertibles focus so much on maintaining a slim form factor that keyboard quality and typing experience often fall by the wayside. To ensure the ZenBook Flip is comfortable to work on for hours at time in traditional laptop mode, we brought over some of the best elements of our ZenBook keyboards. The ErgoLift hinge raises the keyboard 3° in the back so your hands are resting at a more comfortable angle, and scooped keycaps and a generous 1.4mm of key travel keep typos to a minimum. The touchpad on the UX362 continues the 2-in-1 theme with an integrated LED-lit numpad that can be launched and dismissed with a single tap in the top right corner. The larger UX562 is wide enough to accommodate a numeric keypad as part of the keyboard.
Light enough to tuck under one arm and versatile enough to facilitate work in confined spaces, the ZenBook Flip is ideal for traveling to and from meetings or tossing in your bag for a long flight. But on the days you want to hunker down in the office and get some work done, there’s plenty of ports for connecting peripherals, storage devices, and even an external display. A full-sized HDMI port lets you connect a desktop monitor when you need more space for all of your open applications and windows, and the UX361 features two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports as well as a traditional USB 2.0 Type-A port for legacy peripherals. The UX562 changes things up a little with one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 2.0 Type-A, one reversible USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C, and an SD card reader for transferring photos quickly. Both feature Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting wireless devices as well as dual-band 802.11ac WiFi for networking.
