The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition and the Zenbook 14 OLED are ready for takeoff

It’s no secret that OLED displays look amazing with incredible contrast ratios and colors that pop. Because each pixel is self-illuminating, blacks are truly black in a way other display technologies cannot approach. Zenbooks with OLED panels prove that, and today our family of elegant, high-performance laptops is growing by two: The Zenbook 14 OLED and Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition.

The Zenbook 14 OLED pairs 12th Gen Intel CPUs and OLED brilliance

Beautiful OLED displays and the latest Intel Core processors are the order of the day for the Zenbook 14 OLED UX3402. This sleek, powerful laptop brings a whole new look to the Zenbook series while weighing just over three pounds. Its new lid design has our monogram “A” logo, which first appeared in the 30th Anniversary Edition Zenbook, etched right into its all-metal chassis.

The first thing that catches your eye when powering this laptop on is the 14” 2.8K OLED display. Its 16:10 aspect ratio improves productivity with its extra vertical real estate, but it’s the 100% DCI-P3 color coverage with Pantone validation, 550-nit brightness, and ultra-high contrast ratio of the NanoEdge OLED that will grab your attention. The DisplayHDR True Black 500-certified display also features TÜV Rheinland certification for low-blue eye care, and it’s touch-enabled for convenient input. For extra-smooth animation, it has a fast 90Hz refresh rate.

That OLED display is just about all you’ll see when the Zenbook 14 OLED is open. The display’s NanoEdge design gives the system a 90% display-to-body ratio with its super-slim bezels. That allows the laptop to have a full 14” display a compact footprint. Since we pair this design with the Harmon Kardon-certified Dolby Atmos sound system with spatial audio, the Zenbook 14 OLED delivers an immersive entertainment experience in movies and music.

Intel’s latest 12th generation P-series processors up to Core i7-1260P power the Zenbook 14 OLED. These CPUs feature a hybrid architecture that brings specialized performance-focused cores for heavy loads and efficiency-tuned cores for lower power consumption at idle. Up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory provides nimble multitasking, and up to 1TB of fast PCIe storage ensures fast application and file load times. A substantial 75Wh battery gives the Zenbook 14 OLED substantial staying power away from the outlet.

The Zenbook 14 OLED keeps all that processing power cool with an aerodynamic IceBlades fan design and ASUS Intelligent Performance Technology (AIPT). ASUS developed exclusive algorithms and smart sensors to keep a close eye on temperatures so the system can stay cool and quiet.

Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 handle wireless connectivity while a pair of Thunderbolt 4.0 ports with USB Type-C connectors cover high-performance wired peripherals. USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, HDMI 2.0, a combination headset jack, and a microSD card reader round out the ports.

All of that power comes packed into a system that’s just 16.9 millimeters thin. The all-metal enclosure features the Zenbook’s signature concentric circle design available in two brand new colors: Ponder Blue and Aqua Celadon. The 180-degree ErgoLift hinge tilts the Zenbook 14 OLED’s full-sized ErgoSense keyboard and touchpad for a comfortable typing experience.

Celebrate a legend with the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition

This year marks the 25th anniversary of ASUS’s first laptop in space. While aboard Space Station Mir for 600 days in orbit, the P6300 performed its duties flawlessly. The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition UX5401 modernizes that legacy for a new age, meeting rigorous durability protocols. However, that’s not all this notebook has going for it.

Just like the Zenbook 14 OLED, the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition has a vibrant, touch-enabled 2.8K OLED panel for its main display. The display features 100% DCI-P3 color coverage with Pantone validated color accuracy and DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. Ultra-vivid and ultra-accurate color reproduction on its cinema-grade display makes it great for color-critical work like photo and video editing, and watching movies is a joy. Its 16:10 aspect ratio is also great for productivity, and its NanoEdge design keeps the screen-to-body ratio high, too.

Built into the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition’s lid is a secondary monochrome OLED display. Measuring 3.5”, the ZenVision OLED panel can display static text and graphic animations. Inspired by the portholes in Mir, the ZenVision display is a window into notifications, date and time, and battery level, and it’s all easily controlled through the MyASUS app. Business Card mode can show static text and graphics on the display instead of notifications, too.

Intel’s 12th generation Core H-series processors ensure great performance and battery life, all kept cool by dual-fan ASUS IceCool thermal technology. The laptop has up to a Core i9-12900H with Intel’s Iris Xe graphics. There’s also a maximum of 32 GB LPDDR5 memory, a PCI Express 4.0 SSD, and Wi-Fi 6E.

A space-themed notebook should be rugged enough to survive a trip into orbit, and Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition does just that. This laptop has been torture tested to space-grade standards using the US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-016A for resistance to extreme vibration and temperatures ranging from -24° to 61° Celsius. In fact, the laptop can withstand extreme vibrations more than four times more powerful than those specified in the standard. Not only that, but the system meets the US Department of Defense’s MIL-STD 810G durability standards that include drop tests while the system is powered on and operation under extreme humidity and altitudes.

Zenbook 14X Space Edition’s unique aesthetic features space-themed design details on the lid and keyboard, including a wireframe rendering of Mir. Morse code messages integrated into the design spell out the Latin phrase Ad Astra Per Aspera, or “Through Hardships to the Stars.” The all-metal body is finished in Zero-G Titanium color, which reflects the widespread use of titanium in spacecraft.
